about

The third full-length studio album from Glenn Sutter (sue-ter), a folk-rocker from the Canadian prairies. Here's his take on it:

"According to a program I heard on CBC Radio, people are linguistic animals, with an enormous capacity to communicate in written, verbal, and non-verbal ways. I was really drawn to this idea and have been thinking about it ever since, partly because of this album. Music has always been a very meaningful language for me, and I feel very lucky to have this chance to explore and share things through it. This collection of songs is a reflection on the changes and challenges life can serve up, and what it means to be resilient. The main threads are renewal and restoration, noggin g trials and tribulations, and the importance of appreciating the people, places, and experiences that show up along the way."

The title track speaks to the joy and playful energy of a free-running dog, but also to unleashing dreams, and giving them what they need to flourish. On "Big White Bird," Sutter laments about the "black gold" that drives the search for oil, putting species like the endangered whooping crane at risk. On "State of Shock" and "Tiny Devils," he expresses anger and frustration over endless wars, corruption, and hostility around the world. Then there's hope for the future and humanity in tracks like "Green Fire", "A Day Like This," and "Promises."
